To date, crews have installed 172 piles required for shoring to support the tracks during construction and have constructed 125 caissons required for a new retaining wall and Eastern Avenue bridge that will support the expanded rail corridor.#EarlyWorks #EastHarbourTransitHub

With over 10 years of experience from Nigeria and certifications from the Canadian Institute of Quantity Surveyors, Temitope excels in managing contracts, negotiating cost reductions, and ensuring compliance. Her contributions to the EHTH project, especially her negotiation skills, have been invaluable in securing the best value for money spent. Our commitment to safety and innovation at East Harbour Transit Hub Alliance is exemplified by our recent initiative with Salit Steel. We aim to lead a step change in health and safety culture in rail infrastructure construction.Faced with a challenge in the rebar offloading process, our Early Works Team, in collaboration with Salit Steel, developed an innovative solution to ensure worker safety. The concern arose from the need for a worker to stand on the trailer to facilitate offloading, creating a risky working-at-heights situation.Initially, we tried reducing the height of the rebar stacks to eliminate the risk, but this was impractical due to efficiency concerns. Instead, our team researched and implemented trailer guardrails, ensuring a safer offloading process.Here’s how the new process works:1. Truck Arrival and Staging: The delivery truck arrives at the designated staging area.2. Railing Installation: EHTH workers install guardrails onto the truck.3. Safe Offloading: With guardrails in place, Salit workers safely offload the rebar.4. Railing Removal: After offloading, the railings are removed.This innovative approach ensures the safety of our workers while maintaining operational efficiency.
